An update from Annie

So, I am watching the news and there's a big nasty category 3 out in the Gulf. What to do? I watched Alicia as a child. I watched a tree rock at the roots while she hit. I remember that vividly. Do I want to live through that again? I ask the husband, "Do I have to stick it out?" His reply is that he's not leaving unless it's a 4. I wake up the next morning and call him. "It's a 4, are we leaving?" He agreed to go.

There's a big snag in the plan, he has to help close the terminal down. I'm already a nervous wreck. So, I head over to the parents' to help Mom get ready. I asked Dad for a lesson in cutting the aluminum for the windows. Of course Dad has to do it himself instead of giving me a lesson. Dad and I head over to my house to start setting up the house. We get all the windows protected. I gather all the clothes, pictures, and the other things. I catch Elroy, the outside cat, and put him in the dog's kennel. When the husband gets home everything is ready to be loaded.

We head out to my friend's house in Conroe. Fortunately for use we know the back way and we made it without sitting in traffic. Four days later I made it home safe and sound to a nice untouched house. I know others weren't as fortunate, but I am very thankful.
