My brother-in-law’s mom watches Evelyn. They live across the street from my sister and BIL, which is only two streets over from me. The house two houses down from them has four horses on a half acre lot. There is no grass in their backyard. It’s at least six inches to a foot of mud. It’s really sad. The horses have no where to get out of the mud. They have a stall barn thing but it’s built in the mud.
When I turned onto their street I could see Harris County Constable cars. I looked at my sister’s driveway and my Dad was parked there. He, BIL, nephew, BIL’s sister, and neighbors where standing there watching the house two houses down. I pulled into the driveway to see what was going on. The SPCA had been called because a fifth horse was down and couldn’t get up. When the SPCA arrived they had Animal Cops with them filming. They tried for hours trying to get the horse up but eventually a vet had to put him down. It was really sad. I think they let him get too sick before they tried calling a vet to come out. The SPCA and the constable’s office read him the riot act. They were going to run blood tests to see if the male horse was being starved before they decided what charges to press. They also told him to get all the other horses to a vet and to keep them somewhere else until the yard dried up.
