I am so dizzy today it's not even funny. To make it even better I have a bad headache.

I'm going to vent about my job.

Here are the basics of what I do.

  • I set up all the projects for one of the companies.
  • I have to format documents regularly by creating templates and applying them.
  • I reconcile the bank account for one of the companies.
  • I do all the credit card charges for both companies.
  • I have to set up the computers when have new hires.
  • Any time we introduce new software I have to set that up on 20+ computers.
  • I also get a lot of "Laurie I need you to call....Laurie, I need you to order...Laurie, I need you to check into..." I also maintain the company’s address book and calendar.
  • I do all the travel plans for Angela and Bryan.
  • Answer SIL Solver emails and inquiries.
  • Keep the safety records up for the ISN database.
  • Maintain the vanity files.
  • Answer QuickBook questions.

It's an exciting job I know. I usually enjoy it. I learned yesterday that they very well might take my favorite parts away from me. Isn't that nice of them? The owner has decided I should be her assistant. I would rather quit then be her assistant. They are going to hire an accountant, who is going to take all the accounting stuff I do, and I get to help interview her. My feelings are hurt because my job will be changing and the owner hasn't even sat me down herself to discuss it. I worked for Corporate America and even they sat me down to tell me about my new duties when they did away with my position. I just don't understand the thinking. She told the office manager maybe I should come talk to her. I feel like she's making changes that affect me and she should have the courtesy to let me know. I'm just bummed. I discussed it last night with Heath and he said the magic words that makes everything better. "You can quit, it will be tight for a while, but we can live on my salary." It was like a weight had been lifted off my shoulders.

Maybe explain to her (or whoever that will listen) that hiring an accountant will be expensive....and they already have someone who can (and will) do the job. And if she wants to save a dollar, she should just hire a proper personal assistant!

Let me know how it goes. I'm really sorry I'm not around for you to vent to properly, but I know you understand and I hope you know how much you being happy reflects upon MY happiness.

Heath = good man. I will accept that you both married AND procreated with him instead of living in domestic yet non-sexual harmony with me and my cd collection.
