What's the nicest thing a stranger has ever done for you?

When I was about 8 I was walking to my friend's house around the corner. Our neighborhood is sidewalkless and I slipped and fell down. I skinned my knees and hands. I started crying and the neighbor came running out. Her first thought was that I'd been dumped out of a car, but I told her that I had just fallen down. I pointed to our house and told her I lived there and she walked me home. That's how my mom met the neighbor. At the time they lived catty corner to my parents but now they live across the street. They still chat from time to time.

I'm not really sure if there is a nicest thing a stranger has ever done for me. I always appreciate when people let me get in line at the store ahead of them because I have a couple of items versus their basket. I always appreciate when someone holds the door open for me.

My car broke down in the middle of intersection when I was skipping school one day. A nice older man hooked up tow ropes and pulled me to the nearest parking lot. Lucky for me my brother-in-law was passing by and gave me a ride home.
